Sugar Coated Organics- how we started

July 31, 2008, I took my middle son to the doctor because his mood were up and down and up again. The doctor talked to me, looked at him, and said, "here is some bi-polar medicine and please come back in two weeks for some ADHD medication." I wanted a better way or at least I wanted to try anything else first. The thought of my 5 year old boy being on medication for the rest of him life was upsetting.

So, I did what we all do - I went to the Internet. I looked and found many stories about moms who changed their child's diet and saw great improvement. I thought that it can't hurt. So I cleared the entire walk-in food closet and the entire refrigerator and freezer of basically everything. For those who don't know me - I shop in bulk. If 1 is good then 10 on sale is better. This was allot of food. I went to stores and started shopping, I purchased everything I could find that said organic that looked like something my family would eat. After about 6 weeks there was a change. My son was a different boy. He was more balanced, less angry, more consistently happy. That was it - our family was now an organic or all-natural family.

Then I realized something. I wanted sweets for our family. I wanted to be able to give the kids gummy bears, cotton candy, or a candy bar. All the things that are special treats - not everyday things. What happens on Halloween when the trick-or-treat and I have to throw away all that candy? What about Christmas and candy canes?

I went back to the Internet. Yes, there were a few stores in my area that sold organic candy but it was SO expensive and I didn't want to drive 30 minutes each way to get candy. There had to be some where on-line. I looked but I couldn't find what I needed at a good price. Sugar Coated Organics was born. With help from my sister-in-law for the website set up http://www.sugarcoatedorganics.com/ was ready for customers.

I hope when people shop on http://www.sugarcoatedorganics.com/ they will find good prices, things that they can't find everywhere else in one place, and even more importantly ORGANIC OR ALL-NATURAL TREATS WITH NO JUNK PUT IN THEM.
